What is a headlight ballast?

The ballast is a necessary accessory part in HID, which is equivalent to a wire, which can convert low-voltage power supply to high voltage in extreme time.

When the power is turned on, the xenon gas in the xenon bulb is activated by a high-voltage pulse that raises the low-voltage vehicle power supply to more than 20,000 volts through the transformer in an instant, which generates a color temperature of 3000-12000K in the arc, thereby activating the lighting of the xenon lamp.

Ballast identification method
1. At present, there are two types of ballast on the market, split type and integrated type; split type is not convenient for installation, and it is an early product in technology.

2. According to the international standard, if the light reaches 20% in 1 second, the brightness above 80% in 4 seconds is a good ballast, and the quality of the ballast that instantly reaches 80% brightness or fails to reach the standard brightness in 4 seconds Poor.

3. Start-up method, the start of the ballast is divided into two types: one is cold start, which lights when the ballast and the bulb are in a cooling state; the other is hot start, which means that the ballast and the bulb are both at normal operating temperature, and the light is on. In this state, you do repeated continuous switching operations, and the good quality ballast lights normally, and some ballasts will not light normally, and the bulb will turn on one by one. Turn off the power and turn it on again. The latter is obviously of poor quality.

Ballast function
1. Constant power performance: When the voltage is input, the output power of the ballast can be kept constant at about 35W or 50W (the deviation is no more than 3W) to protect the HID bulb from damage.

2. Quick start performance: when the input current of the power supply is the standard voltage, the current is not less than about 8.0A, so that the connected xenon lamp can reach 20% of the standard brightness within 1 second after starting, and within 4 seconds, the luminous flux reaches the standard brightness 80%.

Radiation interference
1. Reverse current interference: When the ballast is working, the measured ripple at the wiring does not exceed 300MV, and the actual measurement is about 150MV-250MV (to avoid interference with the work of electrical appliances on the car).

2. The relative value of the standard radio interference does not exceed -70DB, and the absolute value is less than 20 microwatts. There is no noise in the car FM radio when it is actually used. The radio interference of this product is less than -90DB and less than 5 microwatts.

Protection function:
1. Short circuit protection: When the ballast encounters an unexpected situation and is in a short circuit state, the ballast automatically stops working to avoid damage.

2. No-load protection: When the ballast is not connected to the ballast and is in the no-load state, the ballast automatically stops working to avoid high-voltage electricity from injuring the staff. 1.
